After leaving Livingstone we had three long days of driving before reaching Kande Beach on the edge of Lake Malawi (which takes up aboiut 20% of the country). While there we chilled ouit on the beach, swam half an hour to a rock island to snorkle -I also saw a monitor lizard disappearing into the rocks which was massive and I thought was a croc! We did a village walk with thereally friendly locals (who all have celebrity names!) visitng their homes, school and local clinic - 120 to a class and only one assistant doctor for 4000 people, all very basic. We were also taken to their curio market where we spent ages playing their local Bao game with them, Andrew got his whole head braided although it fell out after a swim and they tried to plait my wholke head but i only let them give me 2, although I'm now quite attached to thewm! Lake Malawi was supposed to be the place for watersports but after seeing the old school kit and lack of wind we decided to give it a miss!
We also had a party for AJs birthday which involved a fake wedding (i was the wedding singer - nice!, punch party and drum party on the beach with the locals, so turned into a good night, ending with us falling asleep in a hammock!
