We were picked up early morning from our campsite in Kasane for our first proper game drive in 4x4s in Chobe National Park. We saw lions almost straight away although we were a bit disappointed to see that they were taggedand walked away quickly. We then drove along the side of the Chobe river and very quickly came across a dead elephant calf and lioness with very bloody face! Soon more lions gathered as she roared to the rest of the pride. We also saw an encounter with a buffalo, got all excited that we might see a kill, but the buffalo won and scared the lions off! A herd of elephants then came down to drink from the river and the lions approached another calf, trying to separate it from the herd, but the older elephants managed to fend off the lions. We then drove through the bush seeing kudo, elephant, giraffe and leopard paw prints!
Later we did a sunset river cruise, seeing lots of hippos as well as elephant, giraffe and a crocodile. This was supposed to be the sober cruise before the booze cruise the next day on the Zambezi but we took our own alcohol so it turned into a pretty messy night!
