From Townsville we made our way to Airlie Beach, where we were to start our sailing trip around the Whitsundays the following day. We had a little wonder around and were preparing for a quiet night in, when we met our roommates, and realised a quiet night in was not going to happen. So off we went to the bottle shop for a few boxes of goon (cheap wine) and we cracked on with the drinking card games, from then on its a bit of a blur....
The next morning we staggered down to the marina and boarded 'The Clipper' which was to be our home for 2 nights. For some reason we both had bad headaches, and felt a bit unsociable, but we did still make it up to the party deck for the toga party that evening.
The following day we had a few hours on Whitehaven Beach, which was gorgeous, til it rained. and kept raining! In the end we forced one of the speedboats to take us back to the Clipper so we could shower and warm up! We lazed around for the rest of the trip, and met some really nice people, the second night was the best when we found ourselves in the middle of loads of sharks and dolphins, all swimming around the boat, with millions of stars above us, and the nice gentle sea which didnt agravate Alyx's seasickness, thank god!
We headed back to Airlie Beach for one more night, and everyone from the boat, including the crew, all went out for dinner and drinks, which once again turned into a dancing on tables kind of night. After a few days of partying it was time to move on, so onto another Greyhound, and off to Childers to visit Laura (Spencer) and Nick from uni.
After spending a night on the bus we arrived in Childers to find that the crazy caravan park owner didnt have a booking for us, but by the time we arrived at the park Laura had sorted it for us. Despite the rain we had a really lovely day catching up, and all we did was talk talk talk! We had a nice homecooked meal of beans on toast, and Nutella for pudding, and watched trashy tv all evening, it was perfect! Although being in a caravan in the rain it felt like we were in Weymouth rather that 'sunny' Australia!
