Alyson, Emily, Julie & Katie's Adventures
We left the joys of the Sydney on a rather high note (literally!) by going to the opera - at the actual Opera House! Even though it was all in Italian, us well travelled and intelligent ladies still managed to follow the jist of the story line and VERY much enjoyed it. We were sad to leave Sydney and our humble abode, but very excited to be moving on to new and exciting adventures. And so we left for Canberra. Quite a strange city really, completely man made and very green and open planned. We hired bikes for the day we were there and took oursevles on a little bike tour of the various sites to see. However, our hostel (if you could call it that) looked and smelled more like a nursing home which wasn't really to our standards, but mustn't grumble. We were only there one night.
We caught an overnight bus from Canberra down to Melbourne where we've been for a couple of days. Our hostel is a lot better than the nursing home and in the city centre too. On our first night we went to see a comedy with a bunch of lesbians, which was interesting and highly amusing. We also found the best vegetarian restaurant in Australia. A good start. We've booked ourselves to go on the grandest tour in the world around the Neighbours set. This is what our whole time away has been planned around and we are very excited to say the least. Bring on Harold. We've also booked a Great Ocean Road trip and a hire car for New Zealand so we went out last night to celebrate our arrival back on the backpacker scene. Most enjoyable. Today we visted one of Melbourne's beaches which was nothing special compared to tropical Queensland, although we had some entertainment on the tram on the way home in the form of a couple of Melbourne's local crazy residents. And that's our news thus far. Thanks for reading. Bye. xx
