Today was beginning of our Nicaraguan escapades! We travelled via van and then ferry to the island of Ometepe. It is a small island in the middle of the Nicaraguan lake with a little town and limited inhabitants. Here we stay with a local family for two nights, with only Spanish being spoken. Tour has begun and the first day was a travel day to La Fortuna, Costa Rica. Took a private van here which was pretty good. The city got it's name when the volcano next to it erupted years ago and all the damage was done to the opposite side to the city, hence the name "the fortunate".
