Phill and Sue's 'allseven' Continents Adventure
Almost a month has passed since our last update. Time enough we thought.
Our rapido blast across Southern Africa and the first phase of South America did of course offer many great experiences. That said its a bit like chocolate cake. Wonderful stuff, but you can't just keep on eating it. So a break was in order. As previously described, we found ourselves a nice apartment and settled down in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires. Live has taken on some degree of routine. We have completed the first level of our Spanish course. 46 hours of head banging learning. We are now on a break from that too and are in the process of moving apartments. This is mainly due to the fact that the builders of our new block neglected to include any form of soundproofing in their plans. We hope to move to a rather bohemian area of town, Palermo Viejo. It is an exceptionally cool, up and coming area.
Whilst BsAs offers us enough excitment to keep us here until the end of the World Cup, it is not without its downside. Crazed drivers, belching buses and otherwise friendly locals domineering the pavements with their elbows. The same pavements which are frequented by dog walkers. Dog walkers here in the capital can be seen with anything from 10 to 20 hounds as they circle the streets earning a peso or two in the process. The defication left in their wake is never collected and makes for a continous game of hop scotch. We have been lucky thus far, though not everyone is so fortunate. Many a popy pooh par sports a size 7 flip flop print. Sue's avoidance of a similar fate is made all the more outstanding by her never looking down. Phill on the other hand never looks up!
Sue developed tooth ache a couple of weeks ago, though this turned out to be a blessing. We chanced across an extremely likable brother/sister duo whos past working week seems to have been devoted to giving us bright white smiles. Between us, almost 20 hours has been spent in the chair. Now the work is complete. The dribbling is over, the drill back in the box and the polishing and bleaching a done deal.
On a seperate note, which will no doubt interest very few of you, St Albans City are for the first time in a hundred years on the brink of promotion to the Conference. You can imagine Phill's anxiety at being 5,800 miles from the greatest pleasure he believes can be derived from this paltry life. 4 games left. www.sacfc.co.uk.
