Settled now in the wonderful country of Peru. Have learnt that No Gracius Manyarna (no thank you, tomorrow) gets you by in this place. Travelled from Lima to the dessert where we went sandboarding, although I bruised the whole of my arms doing this it was great fun and went buggy riding across the dunes. We then had a Pisco Sour party in the middle of the dessert and ended up sleeping under the stars. Group seem like fun there are 3 Irish girls, 1 Aussie and 3 people from New Zealand. We travel everywhere in a great big truck that is driven by an ex army/snipper guy from Liverpool who spent time in Iraq. Our tour guide is a dutch hippie whos experience in a squat has made her an excellent cook, so far we have had Thai curry, BBQ and chicken pasta all cooked on a little gas stove in huge pans outside. Both are equally crazy but good fun.
Lost count of the places we went to but camped by the sea one night and went past the Nazca lines. Spent a couple of nights in Arequipa and went on an overnight excursion to the Colca Canyon which consisted of soaking in hot springs in the evening before going to a restaurant to see a show. Phoned Dad from this town and didnt relaise that they were having an earthquake drill, so it was a bit noisy. Got up early in the morning to see Condors fly over the canyon which is apparently deeper than the Grand Canyon. You could hear them glide over our heads which was amazing although a little disturbing to know that they are waiting for you to die (fall off the cliff) so that they can eat you
Went out for a couple of drinks in Arequipa and had to get the driver to get the guide out of the bath at 5am before she drowned, we have now nicknamed her Kim Morrison. Spent 12 hours driving to Cuzco but it was so worth it. I now have a bed with a shower in the room, have been able to wash my jeans that I had been wearing for 5 days and the place has loads to do. Had a crazy night last night and danced the night away, although not actually on the bar top like the driver. Sat and watched a film the next day after eating pie and mash in the English bar! You can take the girl out of England.... This place is cool
Am off horseriding tomorrow and then off to Machu Picchu Tuesday... so more later Hopefully I can find a computer that uploads photo files rather than individual pics
