Spend an hour yesterday updating this only to have it crash on me ahhh. Am actually in La Paz now which is the capital of Bolivia. Complete culture shock, will need to do a whole blog on this place. So back to rest of Peru. Well we carried on partying in Cuzco for a few more days. Absolutley love it here, lovely little square with clubs that sell drinks for only a pound. You actually get some for free if you are with Eddie our driver who is a bit of a legend out here. Decided to go to Machiu Pichu on 7th october as Tristen the clairvoyant said this would be a significant day, what he didnt say was that day was the day of the train strike. Luckily for me there was a father and son from Adelaide on the trip. It turns out that these people were the only other English speakers including the guide. Kept my head down on the way up to Agues Callentes partly due to having a really bad cold and partly out of complete fear as the roads had sheer 100metre drops and we were skidding around avoiding fallen rocks!!
Got shown to my room in the pouring rain which had also caused a power cut and managed to get a few hours sleep before getting up at 4am to go to Machui Pichu. Spent 5 hours being shown around and just marvelling at the beauty of the place before heading down to try and get home. Our not very helpful guide pointed to the train tracks and said we would get picked up at the other end. So we headed off down the tracks like the kids in Stand by Me, singing songs to pass the time. We did have fun telling the people coming the other way that they still had 10 hours of walking left hee hee. 3 hours later and legs ripped to shreads by sand flys we had to push our car to get it started and off we headed for another 11hours along the roads that had been blocked by protesters.
Gonna save this now before it is lost forever
