Woke up feeling a lot better which is a relief. Still pretty sniffy but feeling ok. We pegged out by the pool, deciding on a quiet day. Bob's Kindle has been playing up in the heat as usual. Every year, one of our Kindles gives up the ghost about this time. We bought a cheap one on Ebay to bring with us as a spare just in case. Anyway. Bob's has refused to charge/reboot when connected to power directly so we have tried it today connected by USB to my laptop and lo and behold-----shhhh it might be listening!------ it seems to have charged and come back. Let's hope that has fixed it.
So quiet up on the upper decks today. Not quite sure why. It is true that with a lot of older people on board, a lot of them are not sunbathers and tend to populate the lower decks. But also, we have noticed quite a few of the Ozzies do too. I guess they have too much sun at home and don't need to get out in it as much as we Brits do.
Went to art and to our drama rehearsal. I missed yesterday and today another of our group was confined to cabin. We had a read through anyway with Ruth, the Entertainments Organiser, adding the extra voice. She was really good. I wish she was going to be in it….. awful of me. LOL.
Black tie tonight for Valentine's Day dinner. Various rooms on the ship are all decorated up with hearts etc. We had an interesting table tonight with some senior ex service personnel and ex politicos as well. I had a proper old colonial duffer next to me and it was slightly stiff at first but then we discovered we had Mapp & Lucia in common and it was plain sailing so to speak after that. In fact the Colonel became quite gallant and proclaimed ROFL that I couldn't possibly be old enough to have a 25 year old daughter!!!! Bless him!
After dinner we had a drink up on the top deck and then went down to watch the show which was the diva chap doing Les Mis. It was High Camp incarnate but marginally less dramatic than his previous show but only just. We did have tremendous sobbing, gurning and eye popping during "I had a Dream" and "Empty Chairs". I found it all most enjoyable. He changed the words to "I had a Dream" to make it sung by a man which was probably just as well because the bit that would have been "He took my childhood in his stride etc" in the original would have sounded a lot like paedophiliac grooming given his tremendous gayness. He sang nearly everything and I was praying he was going to give us his version of Castle in the Clouds, but sadly not……
Another hour back tonight.
