Boiling hot but windy. Quite a stiff wind that last nearly all day. It didn't matter. It didn't make the ship roll and if anything it made the heat more tolerable. It was at least 30C today as we cruised south past Guatemala and San Salvador.
We spent the morning by the pool - as usual! Well, I did. Bob gave up by about 1030 and went off to a cookery lecture and various other indoor activities. I had managed to download a shed-full of books at the end of our stay in Cabo so I am well set up for a spot of mindless sunbathing.
After lunch, we lost an hour as the clocks moved forward to BST -7. So, it was very soon time for art class and finishing off those Mexican bar pictures we started yesterday. I am really pleased with mine. Bob slightly less so in this instance.
Had a fair bit of FB messaging with the girls today. Lulu is now on the brink of exchange and just checking out whether Bob and I can do a bit of tiling and wallpapering for her… what a pleasure that would be. I remember so well my mum and dad - particularly my mum - helping with decorating in our first homes. I doubt I will be as useful but I will do my best.
Daisy is applying for jobs and internships and she sent me her CV and letter for a Working Title film internship to read. It all reads well, but the internships are hideously competitive so not totally hopeful but it is her dream job…..
So, after art, I headed back to the open decks with my book (Regency romance bodice-ripper since you ask!). Bob came up for a while and then headed back for a power nap before dinner. I can't nap unless I am totally exhausted for some reason. Otherwise it makes me feel horrible… It really perks him up though. One of our very few differences. Perhaps it's a man thang…..
G&Ts and then a quick Indian meal up on top.
Tonight our chosen entertainment was the film Birdman. Hmmmm….. well….. I would say about 50 people walked out after 10 minutes. Not sure why. It may have been the swearing. I have to say that I really enjoyed it up until the last 5 minutes when I really lost the plot. The acting was absolutely superb throughout and it very accurately embodied what it must be like to have your life and career riding on a Broadway opening. Have you seen it? Would be a good one for discussion. I'm sure Daisy must have seen it already as it has two of her favourites featuring: Edward Norton and Roland Barthes (only as a discussion topic at one point). Bob hated it and said it was well acted pretentious crap. He may have a point.
Early night after that as we have to be up for our hot, steamy day in the jungles and rainforest canopy of Costa Rica. Apparently it's going to hit 40C with humidity at 100%. Oh good….

Penny I'm with Bob on Birdman - I barely made it past the 10 minute point :)
