Dear friends,
it literally took me a while to find some peaceful time writing down my experiences of the past 3 weeks in which I've got to see wonderful places on different continents, starting with a 3-day-stop-over in Dubai UAE, followed by a 4-day-stop-over in Singapore and finally arriving in Melbourne, Australia where I'm about to stay for my exchange semester up until the beginning of August :)
In order to keep you all 'updated' I'll start with my first destination DUBAI:
On icy Sunday, Feb 8th (after some tearful goodbye's), I started my trip together with my friend Nathalie from Munich Airport to Dubai in one of the biggest airplanes, the A380 which was just sooo comfy and stunning, that flying really became a pleasure :) having great food, big seats, more than 200 tv channels, music and all kinds of entertainment, we arrived in Dubai pretty relaxed and excited.
It was my first time travelling to Dubai and being in a cab on our way to a friend's place, the city was already stunning to me. We were lucky to have a nice place in Dubai Marina, one of the nicest areas in Dubai with a beautiful view from the balcony of our friend's place.
So the first day we were quite tired due to the time difference so we took an extended nap and later went on a 'sightseeing' tour to Jumeirah Beach with our friend's roomate who showed us around. The next couple of days we strolled around the city, taking a touristy bus tour to the main sights such as the Palm Island and Atlantis Hotel, the Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab, as well as to Dubai Mall and even to the nearby desert where we got to see the sunset. The size of the buildings was just stunning and even though I've been to several places before such as NY, Dubai was really beyond expectations. And of course the nice, warm weather did its contribution to an overall great mini-vacation.
