Call me a wimp but there was no way on earth I was going to jump off the Kawarau Bridge (site of the original bungy) with a giant elastic band around my ankles! Only a 43 metre drop. Queenstown has much more to offer than just adrenaline sports. By now we were well into our walking so headed to the Queenstown Hill Track for a panoramic view of the town and the surrounding mountains. We also spent a day at nearby Glenorchy and walked the Sylvan Track in Mt Aspiring National Park.
A 30 minute drive from Queenstown is Arrowtown which sprang up in the gold rush era. All the gold has long since gone but it is home to a Chinese Settlement. The Chinese were enticed over by the prospect of untold riches but found conditions to be very harsh.
If you ever find yourself in Queenstown make sure you have a pizza at Winnie's.
