The main thing to do in Potosi is go down a silver mine - however it is very unsafe and you get to see people working in terrible conditions so I decided to explore the UNESCO heritage city for the morning instead.
After taking pphotos from the hostal roof terrace I headed to the cathedral and went on a tour in Spanish - I was delighted to find I could understand 90% of what was said -Bolivian Spanish is so much cleared than Chilean or Argentinian. The view from the bell tower was spectacular and gave a good view of the gathering school children ready to march with their bands,
I explored the other main sites before heading for an early lucnh so I could get a taxi to Sucre. Met up with Kira, a Canadian who had stayed in my hostal and was also heading to Sucre so we decide to go together.
The taxi ride took 2 and half hours through more spectacular scenery and a fast but fairly safe driver and cost less than £5 arriving safely in Sucre the White city and unofficial capital of Bolivia.
