After a good night's sleep interrupted by early construction I left Guatemala on a shuttle to Antigua that left half an hour early - Latin America continues to surprise me! A short 1 hour journey took me to the beatiful city of Antigua. It was the nation's capital until an earthquake in 1776 forced a move to Guatemala City. However not everyone went meaning the city developed around the ruins of the convents and churches but never reached the same heights again....
