We've crossed over to South island now, slightly later than I expected but still got 2 weeks here for the 6 stops on the trip. we took the interisland ferry to picton which took 3 hours but was so easy and works a bit like an airport.

On the way to Nelson we stopped at the Mussel Boys restaurant to try the local delicacy which is green shelled mussels steamed or served grilled with different toppings. Absolutely lush!

Arrived at Nelson to stay at the best hostel yet. it's called the prince Albert Hotel and is run by 2 lovely women who are almost like mums rather than hoteliers. The rooms are ensuite and all newly decorated, with CARPET and I've got a double bed thats great. they also gave us fresh towels and a choice of dinner and desert for 10 bucks, such a bargain. We did a bit of wine tasting and then carried on the drinking at a nearby pool club. Met some great lads who were really good fun and hopefully will see them again in westport.

The town is much bigger than I expected and got all my errands done, posting stuff home etc. leave here very early tommorrow to go to westport and hopefully the weather will be good enough to do a day of sea kayaking. Having a ball, updates coming soon.
