Ali's Travels
May 2nd
After a almost a 14 flight going via Madrid I arrived in Peru - Lima.
Met by my friendly taxi driver Alberto who took me to the hostel in Barranco, going on a 5mile hike (or so it seemed) to get to his taxi.
Ben arrived at around 2am on the 3rd which was a relief as I believe it or not I was feeling homesick. I think getting on the plane in the UK it finally hit me that I was going and it felt very scary, I am just glad that I have Ben here so I hope by the time I leave Peru I will be more adapted to the backpacking culture!
3rd May
Got up at around 9am to blue skys and warm weather about 24 degrees - we have a view of the Pacific ocean from our room.
Went out into Barranco's main town which it very small, got a lovely wtaer fountain in the main sqaure and it was nice to just chill out in the warm sun and watch the world go by.
Its also not as scary in the daylight :-)
Have met a guy called Louis (French Canadian) who is staying in the same hostel as Ben & I, luckerly he speaks the lingo (Spanish) which is proving to be our down fall as very few people speak English!
In the afternoon we went to Museo Pedro De Osma, a local art Museum - the ticket guy at the gate asked us where we were from, so we told him the UK, which he promtly responded to "Ah! David Beckham"
We also went to Museo de la Electricidad - which is basically a history of electricity - billiant! We had to go just because of the name! Lots of buttons for me to press on the exhibits.
We have got another day here and have then decided to try and get a bus down to Paracas, which has a National Park - good practice for the Inca Trail hike!
