So what has al been up to recently.........
due to high amounts of rain i have frequented the cinema alot, 4 films in 7 days, it killed some time and was pretty fun to be fair in the giant cinema complex in sydney.
i went along to the aquarium on one said rainsoaked day as there was nothing else i could think of doing that involved being inside, so off i went and ended up spending nearly three hours wandering around looking at the fish, and i have to say it was well worth it, definatley puts scarborough sealife centre to shame it pains me to say. the place was pretty huge with apparenty the worlds biggest barrier reef display and the most glass tunnels ever. all the aquaria were pretty massive, some were room sized and the shark tank was massive, which was good cos that meant massive sharks! unfortunatley i didnt have my camera for that day as i had ventured out into town that morning in the sun without it to go have a look at some shops then it started to rain so i went inside the aquarium. the best part was probably seeing the sharks because they had so many varieties and they were all huge. the miniature penguins were funny tho and platypus are just random to look at. i think it was tuesday but its been hard to keep track of which day is which.
i definately know it was thursday morning that i made my way to the nearest irish bar to watch the chelsea champions league game, definately the latest/earliest time i have ever gone to a pub being that i got in at 5 to 5 am and left there after the game finished at about 6.40. glad i did too as it was a fantastic game.
the early morning jaunt to the football was followed by a trip out ot the blue mountains. this place is crazy, really really nice scenery, possibly the best so far. we did a walk out there down the side of the three sisters and along the bottom of the cliffs to a vertical railway which took us back up to the top. it was good fun and good to get out of town and see stuff other than buildings. on the way back we stopped off at the olympic village and checked out the various stadiums which was cool.
more time spent walking around town and more alcohol and sushi consumption
saturday was spent mainly lazing around the hostel, mainly in bed and then a brief walk around town before the nights activities. we had booked tickets to go see sydney swans play melbourne at aussie rules footy, which to our luck was gonna be played at the sydney cricket ground. the match itself was awesome, we were sat only ten or so rows back from the front behind the goals so we got a really good view of attacking play in the half nearest us. being a night game it was really atmospheric and the stadium looked quality, it is actually a really nice ground and smaller than i thought it would be. the game started fantastically with sydney going 38 to 8 up in the first quarter, melbourne were getting utterly dominated and it stayed that way for the rest of the game finishing the swans 109 to melbournes poxy 60! possibly one of the most entertaining live sports games i have ever seen!
today i was dragged to a neighbours/trivia night, not exactly amazing but i did get to have my picture with doctor karl and libby, who is actually really hot in real life and randomly realy short. dont think it was worth the 40 dollars tho. the day time of today was much better as i spent it in bed recovering from slightly too much booze and then a nice detoxing game of football with the lads down the park for a few hours.
melbourne beckons tommorrow, a not so nice 8 o clock start, and a definately not so nice 6.15 arrival on tuesday morning! but at least i get to see the guys from fraser again!
anyways keep ya posted
i hope i havent forgotten anything in sydney
