Middle Lagoon is about 120km north of Broome on a very rough red dirt road, however, after the turn off, thankfully the road further north becomes bitumen for the next 80km up to Cape Leveque.
Our first word on arriving at the campsite at Middle Lagoon was - WOW! We were able to set up the caravan on the top of the sand dune cliffs overlooking a beautiful bay with white beaches, rock pools and safe swimming and snorkelling. What a wonderful place to just relax (not that we've not been doing a lot of that!) and enjoy the simple pleasures of life in God's creation. We ended up staying here for 10 days and have done a lot of walking, swimming, kayaking, snorkelling, fishing, shell collecting and enjoying the magnificent views and sunsets every day. Another highlight has been watching the humpback whales passing by and having a little 'frolic' in the bay... every single day!! We also followed a dolphin for a while in the kayak, but then saw a shark below us in the clear water, which made us feel quite vulnerable. Alf caught a good sized queenfish at the creek and we all caught some small ones, although the big fish are still avoiding Sheryl's line!
We also did a day trip to Cape Leveque and drove into the indigenous community of Lombadina to see the unusual church, as well as Kooljaman Resort, with its white beaches, turquoise clear water and red cliffs, and the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm (couldn't convince Alf to spend $8,000 on a pearl necklace though!).
Royce & Shery celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary while here and a week later it was our 29th, so both times we drove about 5km to a sweet little cafe called 'Whale Song' and treated ourselves to a pizza and mango smoothie! Amazingly, this cafe is quite isolated, but both times, the tables were all full and the first visit they even ran out of pizza!!
On our drive back to Broome, we stopped at the community of Beagle Bay to see the well-known church which was initially established by the monks in the late 1800's but built in 1917 and decorated with beautiful pearl shells - amazing to see.
As always, we have met some lovely fellow campers as well as 'Spinifex' owners (Bernie & Denise), on our travels.

Richard Downing Heh Heh when I first read your line that said "treated ourselves to a pizza and mango smoothie!" I bought, wow, a smoothie that taste like pizza with a bit of Mango thrown in, but on re-reading it I think the Pizza wasn't actually in the smoothie !!!
