The last few days have been spent in Halong Bay and Hanoi in the north of Vietnam. Halong Bay is a world heritage site and one of the seven new wonders of the world. We took a two day/ one night tour round the bay on a small cruise ship with 9 cabins. All our wonderful food was included as well as activities including visiting the 'surprise cave', swimming on a beach on one of the thousands of islands and kayaking (where we nearly got ran over by another cruise ship!), as well as trying out cooking our own spring rolls and fruit carving. It was a fantastic two days and the views around Halong Bay are incredible, definitely something you must see at some point! Yesterday we spent looking round the major city of Hanoi, around a four hour bus journey from Halong Bay. We explored temples and markets and experienced the most intense and fast traffic -trying to cross the road is a nightmare! We took our first overnight train last night from Hanoi to Danang, then around 45 minutes in a taxi has got us to Hoi An. The night train was comfortable as we had a soft sleeper cabin and we had a great sleep, the journey took around 17 hours altogether. Hoi An is a small fishing village town and we are about to head out and have a look round x
