This is just a quick note to let you all know my Eastern European adventures took a southern detour when Jash and I decided to follow the sun down to Croatia and make our way to Bucharest from there.
We spent some time in Zagreb and Split and are currently in the beautiful town of Dubrovnik (yes that is the place the Australian girl was found dead but don't worry - we haven't run into any thugs as yet). This afternoon we convinced a lovely 85 year old Croatian to take us out on his boat. He gave us a tour of the coast line at a speedy 15km/hour while the little boat struggled with 7 passengers. We are currently traveling with 4 others who we met on the bus and have stuck together for the last couple of days. There are two from Canada, an Australian and an English guy but I'm felling a little over the hill as they are all between 18 and 21 - but don't worry, I think I've managed to fool them into thinking I'm not quite geriatric just yet :p
The weather has been so beautiful and we haven't even needed to wear a coat the past two days - imagine that! Today we were going to go for a swim but the sun was hiding when we finally got around to it. But there is a spot where they have a slippery slide into the water and I think that is defiantly the way to go - not chickening out once your halfway down J
Tomorrow morning we are off to Sarajevo and on the way we will do a quick stop off in Mostar- that's the town that has the 23m bridge which locals jump off for money. . Then we will catch an overnight train to Belegrade and on to Bucharest from there. Were really packing it all in at the moment trying to fly though our last few stops to get to Romania in time for my flight. But I am having heaps of fun and are still able to spend a little time in each place.
I'm back in Australia on the 22nd so see most of your pretty soon… ah the dream is coming to an end.
xoxo
