Well we got off the bus into Krabi and, as per, it was nowhere logical and we had to pay a bit extra to get where we wanted to be but because I didn't give in straight away unpaid half the price to get the same minibus as the rest, haHA! I did aim foot the only backpacking hostel in Krabi town to start with but since they were full unless someone checked out, I left my bag and wandered around town before the midday sun and eventually found myself a wonderful little room in a hotel up the street for 70 baht less. This room is downstairs; so cool. It has a fan in the roof and wifi, breakfast for a reasonable price if you want it and the loveliest owner/manager ever. (She booked us all our tours/tickets and gave us the lowest prices which was obviously fantastic!) Her name is Sonya and she love-hates me for being so fussy/indecisive.
My tanned lady friend who I met on the boat, Yvette, was extremely disappointed to find the beaches were sooo far away and so instantly dragged me off to the local beach via longboat. I got burnt through my sun cream after 10 mins on each side before I sensibly went to the shade of the huuuuuge rock behind us. We wend for a mini trek and explored the edge of the island and tested the thickness of the soles of our feet (which screamed because of the karst limestone rocks) but we powered through and collected all the photo opps on Yvette's list.
Today we visited 4 islands for a tidy £9 including lunch but not including the 20p charge to tourists to keep the island clean...
1. A different nicer part of the beach we went to yesterday where I went and watched some climbers, unknowingly turned into an anthill by leaning on a tree and treated like a celebrity by some locals due to my ginger/white complexion.
2. Lunch island where we snorkelled away after lots of really good chicken and some veg with rice. I learnt some new snorkelling skills and saw giant clamshells, loads of luminous and bright coloured fish, a puffer fish, our guide picked up a sea urchin and also gave us a sea cucumber to hold. It was gross.
3. Chicken island (it looked more like a camel and I wasn't impressed) but then we did some snorkelling and I felt better as the guide threw rice and watermelon at people to make the fish gather. We jumped off the boat too. It's the little things like making big splashes that make the day sometimes!
4. A sharper, stonier less impressive version of the Jesus beach that me and my Leeds-school friends visited in turkey 2011. It had a great backdrop for hen other islands around though. Altogether a great day and we had papaya salad for tea. Mine with sausage an mild, hers spicy with chicken sticks.

• Not the most burnt I've ever been. The redness has faded but I will need more moisturiser...
• We are really getting way to used to putting rum in our slushies. But it's not a dilemma since it is cheaper than food...
• Tomorrow we go to Phi Phi. Still fun to say, *snigger*...
• Soon Tina Turner (so nicknamed after he poses she was pulling today) will be as tanned as her shadow...
• It's time to count up the bets and place new odds - my camera broke. Not really my fault since I put it in a waterproof case but I will be picking a new more orange and more waterproof one up tomorrow!!!
NB At this point I am afraid to say that I will be dipping I to my postcard fund to pay for said new camera. Ergo I will attempt to create digital versions which although less exciting in the real world will be much faster and more relatable than snail mail!
Fiona Hockin Shame I did not put money on you needing yet another camera!!! Feb 15, 2013
Sam Hinsley Ahh it sounds so fun!! I'm sure people will make do with digital versions, buying a new camera is WAY more important / interesting :) Feb 15, 2013
