We started off day 13 by heading up the Telstra Tower which is a television-phone and satellite beacon, situated on Black Mountain. It is 195m from the top of tower although it was a pretty cloudy day you could still see Canberra's CBD, Woden and the other surrounding towns that make up Canberra as a city. After we had descended the tower we head into the CBD of Canberra and drove through the main university campus and headed onto the embassies which were all so varied and different and obviously the Americans had to have the biggest one. That afternoon Hugh, Mum and I visited the Canberra War Memorial which is situated directly in line with the old parliament house and the new parliament house, the war memorial was an incredible structure that housed the unknown soldier, sections dedicated to WW1, WW2 and any other conflict the Australian Army had been involved in. It was a fitting tribute to all those soldiers who gave their lives for their country and when you read the stories about some of the deeds they did it, it makes you feel proud to be part of the Commonwealth who such courageous men and women have fought for.
