Well, we've made it to Sydney! It was a bit sad giving the campervan back on the 8th, but it is lovely to be spending time with the Walkers and their friends, really getting to know somewhere, and also to not be moving on for a while! It's just a shame the weather isn't great at the moment, quite cool and lots of rain. It is forecast to get better on Saturday though, so hopefully it will be good for Anthony and my (Debbie) birthdays next week.
At South West Rocks we also visited Trial Bay Gaol which had a fascinating history having been a public works prison, and an alien internment camp during the first world war mainly for Australian citizens with a German background. Tried 'Red Rooster' fast-food for the first time and ate it overlooking Noobys Head at Port Macquarie on the way to Harrington where we stopped for the night.
Drove down the beautiful Lakes Way with the Tasman Sea to our left and Wallis Lake to our right. Had a look around Seal Rocks, Sugarloaf Bay and Myall Lake before settling at Hawkes Nest. The sea was a bit cold so we amused ourselves using shells to knock down sandcastles on the beach.
Spent our last night in the campervan at Ettalong Beach near Woy Woy. The campsite had an amazing pool so we never made it to the beach there! Had an interesting drive from there to Chatswood on the freeway that has been cut through rock and followed the Hawkesbury River for a little while.
Have been to The Great Northern pub where we BBQ'd our own meat for dinner, and to a comedy trivia night at the Chelesa where our team got full marks and won the prize of a $50 bar tab that we plan to use for the birthday celebrations on Saturday at which we are dressing as superheros and supervillains... watch this space for photos!
Look forward to hearing from you all soon.
Lots of love,
Debbie and Alex xxx
