After staying up until 2:00 doing laundry, we woke up "late" at 8:00 and Julia had a yummy breakfast put together for us. I love that in Europe meals always last so long and nobody rushes. It was so nice to sit around a table in somebody's home and have breakfast before we started our busy day. Julia showed us around Dortmund and then we went to Phoenix Park, a man made sea that has beautiful homes surrounding it.
After walking around the "sea" we hopped into Julia's Audi and drove on the Auto Bon! The Auto Bon was like nothing I've ever experienced in Boston, there's no speed limit and people can go fast! Of course driving on the Auto Bon to Julia is just a daily task, but for us it was thrilling!
We took the famous highway to Cologne where we walked around the old city. Cologne had a beautiful church in the center that we went in and I lit a candle for the family.
Walking around Germany with a German has been so fun. Julia knows so much, she's so sweet and fun to be around.
One thing the three of us were unaware of was how yummy the food is in Germany. We a lot of pretzels, Berliners and strudels in our stroll around Cologne. We visited their love lock bridge, walked along the river and watched a really entertaining street performer. In Germany all the shops except for restaurants are closed in Sundays, but that doesn't stop any of the cities from being busy!
We came back to Dortmund and had our last dinner with Julia and one of her friends. We sat and ate shnitzel and drank German for three hours at a German pub.
We are now on the train to Berlin, we are so sad to leave Julia, her cat and her lovely home. I wish she could come to Berlin with us today.
Ich liebe dich (I love you)!
