Today we decided to take the train to Brussels! It is so amazing how easy it is to just hop on a train and go to another country and that is exactly what we did with just two transfers we were in Belgium.
We got of the train and Bruxelles Ost and walked into the beautiful and quaint city of Brussels. It was a beautiful sunny 70 degree day. We learned last night that it's a German saying that "if you clean your plate the night before you'll have good weather" and that's exactly what we did with our schnitzel last night, we lucked out!
In Brussels we visited the Grand Place (this blog photo) and walked around the square. We even ran into four other QU students who are traveling too!
After a French lunch of Croquet Monsieur we wandered around the city taking in the sweet smell of Belgian waffles that fill the air and the sunshine.
Our itinerary for Belgium was very low key, we had no big plans (our packet was only one side for today). It was so nice to have a relaxing day and to test our exploring skills.
Brussels has a monarchy and we were able to see their palace across from a beautiful park with a gazebo along a street with all of the embassies. It was beautiful there was also a huge Church with the loudest bells that could be heard across the city.
We walked into about every chocolate shop in Brussels, it seemed like there was one on every corner! We all got famous Belgian waffles stuffed with so much whipped cream, banana and Nutella. We have been stuffed ever since! They were so yummy!
We are now back in Germany for the night with Julia and the kitty with plans of visiting Cologne tomorrow!
Love,
Al
