Alan and Amy's Excellent Adventure
We stayed for Auckalnd for 2 nights before going to Coromandel and then for another 3 before leaving to Chile. We didn´t do too much to be honest so this will be a brief blog. I is just a big city, not unlike any other and we were preparing to move on to South Amercia.
The first night we stayed in the worst hostel so far on our trip. This was full of annoying loud people who decided throw furniture around in the hallways in the night and put food all over the walls. It was quite annoying but I had some earplugs. Didn´t drown out the sound of the oven being dragged across the floor though. Anyway we moved out the next day to a hostel down the road that was a lot better and thats where we stayed for the rest of our time there. We met a few people who had been/were going to South America so it was good to get some advice and get things booked on the internet etc.
In the city we took in a few of the sights and did some shopping, stocking up on stuff we needed and checking out outdoors shop sales.. We tried to sell our tent but unfirtunately didn´t so we ended up leaving it behind anyway. One day we went for a walk though the park to the museum of Auckland. It was really rainy. The museum was good, it had a lot of Maori exhibits, which we hadnt seen any of since going to New Zealand. They also had a good wildlife section. We sent a few hours there.
The night before we left we packed everything up. Disaster stuck when one of the zips on my backpack broke so I am now one sidepouch short. We ate chilli on our last night before going to Chile. In the morning we packed up and got the bus to the airport, excited about moving on to a new continent. We had a great time in New Zealand but we were ready to move on to somewhere a bit different and try out a bit of Spanish. Alan had alreasy learn one or two phrases from the small phrasebook we bought...
