Adventures with Andrea and John
After our visit to the boulders we took the 1 hour drive south to Dunedin to see the little piece of Scotland south of the Equator. Amazing architecture. We went to see the Cadbury Chocolate factory to ask about booking a tour and we were booked in for the next tour that day. We were giving samples of some of the chocolates they make there and got to see 1 ton of molten chocolate fall 5 stories (wow). We also got to sit in the cab of a 1919 Ford model T milk tanker truck. (right hand drive of course), then we drove up the Otago Peninsula to Larnach Castle nice stunning views. I don't recommend the drive for the faint of heart a very twisty road with no shoulders and in many places long drops. Then back down the hill to Dunedin to go find the steepest road in the world. Baldwin St lives up to its title. The steepest section is a 1:2.86 slope Andrea did not let me drive up it :-( but I did walk up it. Each year they hold a running race up the hill called the Gutbuster, and they have a contest where candy coated chocolate balls (provided by Cadbury of course) with numbers printed on them are rolled down the hill. Why? you might ask, well I will give you the same answer we got about the 1 ton molten chocolate fall. Because they can, that's why.
