Day 20: Sunday 6th March - Halong Bay. By Chris
We arrived in Halong Bay ready to board our day long boat trip, however upon arriving the weather was too poor for any boats to go out and so for the time being we were left waiting for a gap in the clowds to appear.
We killed time by playing cards, and then went for an explore around the town but there really was nothing to do there apart from going out to sea so the day was a bit of a downer as for me, this was going to be the highlight of the tour!
We all went for dinner that evening to an amazing little cafe on the sea front and then proceeded to watch Liverpool smash Man Utd before hitting bed.
Day 21: Monday 7th March - Halong Bay. By Chris
We woke this morning eager to see whether or not the mist had lifted allowing us to venture out onto the sea?! To our luck it had lifted enough for us to board our boat around 8am. The views of the bay were still limited fropm the mainland, however once we drew nearer they emerged from the water! Incredible! The most amazing sights that really did look out of place in the middle of the sea!
We docked into a popular bay where the world and his wife were also there! This place was popular due to there being an ancient cave which was huge, so so big! Inside it was amazing although the Vietnamese approach towards tourism is one that means making everything resemble Hollywood movies! It was a bit over dramatised but still provided an immense view!
After that we boarded the boat again and then set off further on into the bay to explore. This was even better than before as the weather had again improved an revealed yet more off the many hundred off land sculptures jutting out of the water.
We stopped for lunch on the boat which was fantastic, such a good meal, especially as it was all seafood that had been caught fresh that day, just what we needed before returning to the dock and setting off on a 4 hour trip towards Hanoi!
When we got there we had the traditional 'Orientation walk' before getting some take away pasta and hitting bed.
