We left Auckland very sad after spending such a wonderful week with Luke. Although I'm pretty sure I should of been annoyed as they ignored me most the time to drink jack and play their weird pool challenge. Anyway shortish flight and we'd moved time zones and countries. Welcome to Australia.
The hostel came to pick us up...Njoy..dive! Not a great place our dorm was full of finish people and Germans me and mart ended up messaging each other on fb to talk haha. Decided we needed to et a new hostel...found castaways. Best ever! So little and lovely the staff are amazing and get drunk with you.
Cairns is messed up!! Crazy place it's so roudy! Crazy stuff. The first thing we were told when we got here was don't swim in the sea it's full of mud and quicksand. U will get stuck. U will get eaten by a crocodile. However they have a lovely lagoon you can swim in instead. We've sunbathed there a lot! They have loads of permanent bbqs at the beach where you can just take meat an cook it..torture when a you are eating is noodles and peanut butter.
So barrier reef... AMAZING. there so much to choose from but we went by recommendation. Small boat of only 20..sail boat. The crew were fantastic. We didn't have an alcohol restriction like most boats. Adopted an Ozzie girl from Melbourne for the day. Went snorkelling. I did y intro dive. When I first jumped in even though I told myself to breathe I started hyperventilating. However when we went down I felt better. Although my ears are totes messed up from my skydive and they killed but as we only went down 15metres I managed to deal with it. Saw some amazing stuff. Diving was incredible got to touch certain parts see MASSIVE fish amazing. Was only me and the bloke so got good 1:1 instruction. After that I came back to the surface and found mart (couldn't hear out my ears) went snorkelling took loads of photos. Had lunch..then just as we're about to jump back in. Massive reef sharks were swimming Around te boat No one else was in the water but then one of the crew spotted franky the turtle so flippers on and I jumped back in...I got very concerned that I was the only one in he water with the sharks but franky was there. And it was he most magical moment. I went snorkelling for a few more hour with Melissa an then we headed bak and they fed us wine cheese and chocolate cake!
Me mart and Melissa went to pier bar fter which is a mental place and got pretty drunk.
We've spent days an days searching for cars. Found. Perfect one went to buy one tonight and the w****-pardon my French sold it an hour before we were meant to buy it. However we've found another replacement. FINGERS CROSSED we shall get it in the morning so we can drive down to Townsville :D.
