Hi folks,
So after an early night we woke up bright and early and set off towards Williams continuing on the journey to the Grand Canyon.
We hadn't quite realised how close Williams was to Seligman so we were there in no time down the Interstate 40. We decided to venture into town so we could visit an ATM and a supermarket as stocks were running low.
We ended up at Safeway (wasn't expecting to see one of those here!) and trotted about in there for another few hours or so finalling leaving with arm fulls of shopping and $100 lighter! America is soo expensive we have come to realise so its rice and peas for the next 3 weeks as I put Mark on a ration of 3 meals a day instead of the 5-6 he was used to at home!!
So after loading our cupboards up with the food items we setted off to find out digs for the night. We decided to enquire about the Grand Canyon train that could take you from here to the South Rim which would let Mark have a day off from driving and might be more relaxing, however, after finding out this was going to cost us $65 EACH we decided against that and headed off towards Valle to find a campground for the night.
We struck luck...... "The Flintstones Campground" was to be our home for the night. Now I can imagine what your are all picturing right now by hearing the name of the place and just to set your minds at rest......Yes it was excatly that corny! Picture fake boulders, Wilmas Laundrette and BedRock Playground! After Mark had overcome the hill billy owners (I'm talking a lady with missing teeth and a man with a sweat soaked cap and checkered shirt!!) we "hooked-up" and settled in for the night ( ALL locks checked thoroughly before bed!).
Tomorrow.... Grand Canyon!!!!
Love to all A & M xxxxxxxxxx
