We got up quite early so that we could make the most of the last free breakfast we would have, and to check out. Bright and early Monday morning we left franz josef heading towards wanaka. The first stop was at lake matheson, with the sun just rising the views were amazing. We decided to do the longer walk all the way around the lake. The reflection of the mountains in the lake was perfect, so we took loads of photos which looked just like postcards! We left Taupo this Monday morning, but it wasn't long before we were back off the bus. The weather was gross and it was raining quite a bit. First stop on the side of the road was for us to walk a short 20 minutes down to a famous waterfall used in The Lord of the Rings film, it was a nice waterfall so we took lots of group photos! We hopped on the bus at 7.30am, ready to go up to the bay of islands! First people we met on the bus were all English- Rob, Nina, Fran and Henry. Our driver jarred rapidly bombarded us with clipboards for us to book any activities, hostels and the bus back to auckland.
