Now for The Plan.
I had my second interview with REI Saturday morning and it was a ton of fun! There are just such good vibes there :) After I got back and flipped the bus around, we took off to Home Depot and made my first construction purchase - the bed. It only took a few hours to build, and hopefully we got most of it on video tape for the documentary my landlord wants to create - like I said, AWESOME people.
With the first project done, there's a long list of housekeeping in addition to the construction that needs to happen and as long as I can fund a project, it'll happen pretty fast. Luckily, I ran around and handed out a few more applications around REI at some coffee shops and one called me back two days later to hire me without meeting me or an interview! Feeling a bit better with at least one day of work, we went on our merry way organizing and cleaning the bus. After it's all said and done and we've taken my clothes to donation and re-sale, I've chopped my now-quite-tiny wardrobe in half.
After putting up some awesomely tacky curtains in our front window and realizing my record player is a bit wrecked from the drive, I got a call from REI, downtown offering me what I've been dreaming about for quite some time now - the chance to start with one of the greatest companies to work for, with the greatest people around. I am SO STOKED! This also means I have a much better outlook on building my bus - everything seems to be falling in to place. It's amazing what you can achieve with something as simple as a positive attitude.
Hmmm... should I build the walls to the bathroom or finish the kitchen counter next?
If you'd like to read about my journey up to Salt Lake in the bus, there's another blog under this same date.
