October 9th Today we got back in jeeps and ventured back to Ranikhet where this whole adventure first began. We bought a huge bag full of guavas from kids running down the side of the road and we stopped in Bageshwar again to eat at King Kong which was very tasty - Paneer Tikki Masala! On the last leg on our ride, we spotted a band of 30 monkeys just chillin' in the trees and we arrived at our destination just after dark for dinner and an overview of the next days.
October 10th We woke up and word got around that 3 people from our group were super sick the night before and some claimed it was from too much food, but I have my own suspicions. I also walked into breakfast and was disappointed to see that one of the girls from the trip had already put on mascara and dolled herself up... In some ways, it reminded me of how I led two lives for so long between Saks and rock climbing/biking everywhere, but in other ways I just felt like we had an imposter in the group. The rest of the day was gear de-issue and a long line to use the internet.
October 11th Our last official day together, we all woke up to breakfast at 5 in the morning and hopped into jeeps to catch a train at 9 o'clock for Delhi. The train station was definitely wicked busy, but we all got out alive and in one piece. The bus in the city was pretty hilarious since the roads were so packed and narrow, the monstrous vehicle had a pretty big challenge everytime he attempted a 90 degree turn.
Our hotel, Hotel PERFECT, was actually pretty nice and our room (the honey moon suite courtesy of NOLS for just us two) was pretty pimped out! We had a huge, plush bed with a fancy coffee table, leather stools, huge armoire, TV, and American-style bathroom.
We graduated that night and reminisced about what made us unique in life and on the trip. My couch of a backpack was brought up again as well as Nate's slaughter. After the graduation ceremony, we went to Mr Sign's for dinner. I think that was mainly just an opportunity for him to rip off all of the NOLS students (a $140 usd trip to Agra for 24 hours... I could do it for $40!) and more nights at the PERFECT hotel for $40 usd a night! We chose not to play that game, but I did partake in the 50 rupee cold beer that he was selling and man, did that taste amazing after a month and a half!
