It is a short drive to Coober Pedy. It is more familiar territory and I am happy to be able to explore this town a bit more.
Coober Pedy is as hot and dusty as we remember it. We book into a cabin as we are not keen to pitch our tent in the dust again. We get a different feel when walking around the town. Last time we were here there were lots of people loitering in the street but they are not here now.
We go to the supermarket and get dinner, Mark gets a bottle of wine and hands over his photo ID to be scanned into the computer.
That night we go and feed the orphaned kangaroos. Most of them have been brought in injured. We feed the big reds wasabi peas and banana chips. They love them. We then meet a 5 month old joey called Seamus whose Mum was hunted by aborigines. He is too cute. Both the kiddies are taken with him.
