We are off to Darwin again in search of our new air poles. We try a new tactic this morning and pack the car then stop in the camp kitchen for a late breakfast. This allows us to pack up before it gets too hot. I'm not sure the kids like this idea though as towards the end they are quite grizzly. Hi from Mary River, home to the biggest concentration of salt water crocodiles in the world. The only crocs we have seen so far on this trip have been in tanks! An easy 90 minute drive from Darwin we arrive here at lunchtime. We pitch our tent and have just sat down when the "wallaby show" begins. Over 20 wallabies hop out of the bush and spread themselves around the camp and eat! Awesome! We are watching the wallabies when Emily trips and falls on the tent. It...

We are now back in the tent. I love being in a campground again. Outdoor space for the kids, random people to chat to and more suitable to the budget! At this campground there are lots of families all doing similar or longer trips than us and we can swap stories and tips. Before arriving we had debated going to Kakadu but now we definitely will! Tuesday was about all things fish! We manage to make it out of the apartment at 8 and head down to Doctors Gully to feed the fish. It is a phenomenon that started many years ago. The fish swim there at high tide and eat bread hand fed to them. We help ourself to slices of bread and stand in water up to our knees and feed mullet, queenfish, trevally, catfish, milkfish etc... There are hundreds of fish swimming around our feet. We trip over them when we try to move...

We made it, yes we are in Darwin. It's 153 years later than John McDouall Stuart and a bit of an easier journey but we have followed the path he paved. It is a balmy 30 degrees as we pack up our campsite at Mt Bundy station. It's hot work and we depart camp at 10:30.
