We were up again before 7am to pack our bags and get ready for the journey to the Angel Falls. We had a quick breakfast and set off to the airport to begin our adventure. We arrived at the worlds smallest airport which was matched by the size of our aeroplane. The five person plane looked like it had been designed more for for a Lego man rather than humans, but we all fitted in just about and took off. Some of the views made up for the turbulence as it seemed we were aiming for every cloud in the sky. We did however manage to see a couple of rainbows going over the jungle and even allowed time for Abigail to have a little nap.
As we came down to land we saw seven large waterfalls in a row and following a bus journey and a quick introduction to the tour we were able to go have a better look. We were able to go to the beach with everyone else on our tour who all seem a lot of fun, so the tour is highly anticipated. The water was red which we couldn't understand but that didn't stop us going in for a swim and with three palm trees and a couple of waterfalls in the background we have swam in worse places.
Later we were told to change into our swimming gear and bring socks as we were walking behind a waterfall. We assumed it would be a small one but after a half an hour trek we discovered the waterfall was enormous. IT WAS FANTASTIC! We have agreed it was the best thing we have ever done in our lives, with the adrenaline pumping and the amount of water soaring over our heads was amazing and made any stress of Venezuela completely worth while. We thought that would be it but there were more adventures to come. We then went to the top off another waterfall where we could have a dip but it was the view which was most impressive. It looked as if we were looking out over the savannahs in Africa and something out of the Lion King. It was spectacular and had us completely converted into the stereotypical tourists taking photos at any opportunity. Even with the quantity of photo's we now have it is hard to see how amazing the whole day had been.
We did find ourselves in hysterics at one point as a German couple thought they owned the waterfalls which was a shame that they had a go at people getting in the way of their pictures as before that they had seemed quite nice.
We finished the day with dinner and then as Abigail went to bed some of people from the tour went for a couple of beers at a local bar which was quite fun to watch the dancing and culture difference to the English pub.
As for today it has been absolutely brilliant, from trekking in the middle of the jungle in a bikini and socks to walking behind waterfalls as been one of the best days of our lives.
