My last full day in Sydney :-( I've been pretty busy too. So on Thursday 15th I visited the New South Wales Art Gallery which was a great way to spend a couple hours, didn't think much of the modern art in the basement e.g. a huge canvas just painted blue...I didn't get it. Woke up early to catch the free guided tour around Sydney leaving from the Town Hall (George St) at 10.30am. It was led by a lovely uni student called Nick who showed us around the city's main areas for 3.5 hours! He showed us around the Queen Victoria Shopping Centre including statue of her dog that actually talks and when you throw a coin it is barks and says thankyou (weird), the Hyde Park and fountain there, the Rum hospital and Martin's Place, and Australia ...

A girl in my dorm room recommended visiting the Australia Museum so waking up not too early I found a lovely little café and ordered a truly English breakfast of English muffins and a pot of tea- loved it! Then got distracted my a shop selling socks for a dollar a pair, ended up going in there as I'd only brought two pairs on my travels forgetting I'd need a few for Australia. Found a pair of jeans for $10 and bought those too as again I'd only brought one pair ...

Arrived in Sydney on Sunday 11th July at 7ish in the morning, it took ages to get through passport control and then you had to have your bags checked for wooden stuff and seeds etc. I had ticked almost every box on the immigration form just to be on the safe side and even got my muddy sandals cleaned for me as they still had mud on them from the Laos jungle!
