Halong bay
Setting off from Hanoi a short 4 hour bus, we arrived in halong city. We caught out boat and were amazed how luxurious the boat was we had a lovely sea food lunch and I enjoyed fish for the first time!!
The boat trip around the islands was stunning there are 2.000 islands in halong bay, so we relaxed on the top deck of the boat and talked to fellow travelers and enjoyed the views.
We hoped on to a kayak and just did a mini tour of our own Mich. can not steer what so ever she got very told off!!!
Halong bay is a World Heritage site located in Quang Nihn Province, Vietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone Karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes.
The water was cyrstal clear and the limstone mindblowing, we had a class tour guide and staff on the boat and the first night we docked up in between the islands and practice our diving and flips! Mich. over rotated one and it knocked the wind out of her!
That night after dinner we had a karaoke party with people from Ireland, Argentina, OZ and Vietnam.
I got up first and sang my heart out after that every one gave it a go, me and Mich. sang country roads (john Denver) went down well. Our little room on the boat was small but cozy.
The next day we woke early for breakfast at 7.30pm. After breakfast we swapped onto a smaller boat and travelled to Cat BA national park. We cycled to local villages and then had a little trek into the forest. Our guide warned us about cobras, another guy and myself were very scared. We visited an ancient cave were viets used to live. Then we took a trip to monkey island where we saw dogs!!!! (only joking!) One monkey went for this guy with a huge ginger beard! The monkey's were quality as they were in their natural habitat not locked in a zoo.
We are now staying on Cat BA island (womens island in Vietnamese) which is the most populated island with around 8000 residents. We are going to hire a motorbike tomorrow and do some exploring before we head back to hectic Hanoi.
