On the way to Tyne Cot (the main British memorial) in Belgium we stopped near the NZ memorial at Langemark to see some of the items that still turn up every day in the fields. Here there was a farmer with a collection of shell remains and leaning against the power pole across the road was an unexploded gas shell.

What you don't get from this picture is the smell, this was right next to a piggery.
