What better time to update my blog than on the year anniversary of my travels. How times flies eh. What a great year I have had too, visiting six different countries in Asia and then going onto do the East Coast of Australia. It has been quite a journey, I have seen so much, done so much, experienced so much and met so many great people it has been one hell of an epic adventure full of many ups, not so many downs and plenty of drunken shenanigans. I just want to take this opportunity though to thank my Mum and Dad who without them this dream would probably not have become a reality. They are simply legendary parents, the best in the world and I miss them loads.
Anyway back to my last few weeks, last time I updated the blog I had just been relieved of my duties as a fundraiser. I was pretty disappointed I liked the job and especially the people who I worked with but the pressure of hitting targets just got to me too much. So what have I been doing since then, mainly searching for jobs, I've been applying for anything and everything. Film Extras, Telesales, Door to Door sales. The lot. I got offered a job driving wedding cars, but this was just weekend work, so I opted to go to another interview instead for a job as a waiter but never got the position. I got offered two jobs both door to door sales selling Australian energy and gas but I turned both of these down because they were purely 100% commission based. I got offered jobs to go back in the fundraising game, but I turned them down as I didn't want the pressure I had last time. I have signed up to three job agencies one got me work for one day I did an hours induction and got paid $80 for it so that hasn't been bad, but there has been no work since. I went for an interview to be a photographer at the Sydney Opera House which I thought went really well but I still haven't had a call back. I have applied for more jobs as a card dealer, at moonpig.com.au and more hospitality, retail and sales jobs but still nothing yet. The only job I did get was being a walking billboard for a day. It was really fun though, I was handing out free toothpaste and toothbrush vouchers to people on the street and having good banter with them. Unfortunately the job is ony casual and they just call when I'm needed. So I'm still after a more permanent job but I have a feeling there is something on the horizon.
So have I only been job hunting in the past few weeks? Don't be daft I have still been having a good time but just doing it as cheap as possible. We have purchased a football so we can have regular kick abouts down at the park, this has happened about twice so far, sometimes it is just to hot to play. It has been pancake day, where Tom went mental making pancakes all ay and we tried various different combinations such as pineapple and chilli, oreo, vegemite, ice cream, peanut butter, bacon and cheese and Tom even had a slice of pizza pancake. Speaking of foo, if you are a friend of mine on Facebook you would have seen that Tom and myself have been slaying various food challenges. The first was the 1kg steak challenge, I slayed this in a very good 32 minutes. I wouldn't say it was easy but I managed it. I did have terrible stomach pains after it but the glory soon won over in the long run. The next challenge was the Chicken challenge, one full chicken, s***loads of chips and a bowl of coleslaw. I struggled. Even though I had my loosest pants on starved myself all day (My advice to anyone who is a doing a challenge). Tom had smashed his, but I was struggling. I ate that much I had to throw up towards the end but I still managed to complete the challenge and claim double glory.
We have been attending a pub quiz, mainly to keep seeing the woman who does it, who is outrageously attractive and we have come third the past three weeks winning ourselves a bottle of wine for the team which has led to many drunken shenanigans, and of course we have had many of drunken nights out in Scruffy Murphys though it is getting kind of boring lately so I think we are trying to go some new places, starting with King's Cross on Saturday.
Other than that nothing much more to report so I will report back next time when I have hopefully successfully got myself a job.
So Take Care and Stay Safe
Speak Soon
