We were in Newcastle, my first impressions were good, it looked a really nice place. It was just a shame we only had one night here. There looked there was much to do, but the first job we had was too find a hostel. We had no idea where any were so just headed to the centre of town. Tom spotted two charity workers, they tend to be backpackers so we asked them and they pointed us in the right direction. We checked in and discovered it was free pasta night at a local pub so we dropped our bags off and headed there for a couple of beers and pasta. There wasn't much pasta so we were still quite peckish so headed to the Subway near our hostel. Now it was on to my next priority, get Wi-Fi and find out how would I get to Byron Bay the next day, do my online theory test and most importantly check Facebook. Our hostel was a disgrace for Wi-Fi prices so I refused to buy it, McDonalds was too much of a walk away for their free Wi-Fi. The German receptionist told us that you could sometimes pick up Newcastle's free Wi-Fi but we were having no success with this. I was in a pickle I didn't know what to do! We made the executive decision to buy some internet at our hostel, just an hour cost us $4 each. Outrageous. But it enabled me to plan my way to Byron. I explored several different options, a 14 hour greyhound bus, hitch hiking, a train but I settled with hiring a car. It may not work out the cheapest after everything but it wasn't outrageously more expensive and it allowed me to be more flexible and now I could give back and pick hitch hikers up. We than had a couple of beers, played s***head and scuttled off to bed.

The next morning, we checked out and I went to get my car for a few days. Tom reluctantly came with me. We walked around 40 minutes to get there to be greeted to a beautiful red Nissan Micra. To be honest it looked like something a girl would drive or someone over 70. But I loved the new Murph Mobile and named her Mitzee. I dropped Tom back at the hostel and loaded up Mitzee and then it was off on the 600+km journey back to Byron Bay, whilst Tom went to Sydney to try and find us jobs and accommodation.

Newcastle was a good place and it semt like it had lots to do there it's just a shame we didn't have time, but I'm sure I will be back sometime. So until next time stay safe and take care.
