So the next day we headed down to the dock early on the back of a pick up truck, about 10 of us all with massive ruck sacks, and Earl with his suitcase, it was quite a 15 minute drive. We crossed the border and got our visa sorted and then go took by tuk tuk to the slow boat dock, this is where we met a dutch guy called Nick who was also on our bus to Chaing Khong and two German girls called Isa and Helena.

We spent the next six hours on a boat travelling to Pakbeng, we played some cards, Nick taught us a new game called 31 and also some adaptations to Ring of Fire / Kings Cup which he calls circle of death. We had a few beers but the boat trip definatly missed the David Murphy and Blue Pigeon factor we could have done with some bingo, quizzes and the much loved blue pigeon song.

We wasn't expecting much from our one night in Pekbang, from what we had read the place was a ghost town and all you could do is sleep. But we found different, after we had our tea, we both opted to try Buffalo steak, we decided to go to the only bar in town. The Hive bar. We were the only two in there for a while and got to put on our own music, pretty soon more backpackers came in, I'd like to think it was mine and Earl's djing skills but its more than likely that it was the only bar in town. We had a right hoot and it ended up being a kind of lock in, the waitress and bar man who was constantly air guitaring and air drumming even made us some food, we even contemplated staying there all night and going straight to the boat and perhaps shold have done as we didn't get too much sleep as we had to be up at 7 to get back on the slow boat, which semt to go even slower than the day before.

Anyway we eventually arrived at Luang Prabang and checked out the night market last night had an all you can eat for 80p and watched the united game with 80p beers. We went to the Kuang Si waterfall's this morning which is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. Not bad for a Monday morning eh?
