Hoy from Iguazu Falls Brazil yes we are finally in Brazil. The last 10 days have been amazing and busy. We flew back into Buenos Aires from Peru after a 15 hour wait in Lima airport. Arrived early and both collapsed in bed for most of the day. The next day we had our first meeting with our new GapAdventure group and our leader Lula. The group is fanastic a really good mix. We all went for massive steak and beer then to a pub to get to know each other. We had another day in Buenos Aires and then we left early last Sunday for Uruguay. The ferry took 3 hours and we amused ourselfs and others on the ferry by singing spanish old mcdonald has a farm! First stop was Colonia a lovley small town by the river and a nice little hostel. Again as it had become a theme on the tour we all had dinner and lots of beer and even some beer by the river as the hostel thought we might get a bit loud and chucked us out.Next stop Montevideo the capital of the counrty nice enought but really just another big city. Salto was our next stop but there is nothing much there and i think we spend one night there to break up the journey to Iguazu.
From Salto we took taxis, 4 people to a taxi plus our luggage is not very comfy for an hour. The taxi took us to the Argentina borders so goodbye Uruguay hello Argentina AGAIN...... then we were dropped off at the bus station in Concordia to catch our night bus to the Iguazu Falls. We arrived about an hour before we were due to leave and i saw on TV that there were some sort of road block protest going on. I remember saying ...hope our bus isnt stuck in that.....and yes yes it was 6 hours late our bus arrived at the station at 1.20am. Some of us had beer to pass the time but we were all very happy to get on that bus. Luckly it was like our first class bus we took before, nice big seats and i think i slept very well. The bus arrived in Puerto Iguazu which is still in Argentina so we had to take a private mini bus across the border to our hotel in Foz De Iguazu.
As we arrived nearly 7 hours late it had reduced the time we had to visit the Brazilian side of the falls so after a very quick shower and change we all headed to the falls. We had a private mini bus and our driver Edwardo to look after us for the next few days. We decided to take a helicopter over the falls. Me Claire Russell and Suzanne enjoyed 15 mins circling the falls from above and it was amazing. Especially funny when the pilot dived and Claire and Suzanne were screaming beside me. Got some really cool photos. We then went into the park and walked right up to the falls and got soaked with the spray.
Everyone was so tired that night we had a quiet dinner and headed to bed. I discovered i was sharing my bed with ants so had to get that cleaned before i got to sleep.
