Ok, so our journal entry is a bit late, basically because we were have become lazy - bangkok really zapped our energy! I (LU) have been to thailand before - 6 years ago, and i did not quite remember how manic Bangkok is, but then again i9 never spent a week there! Spent a lot of time shopping along the Koah San Road, a place i did not stay last time, but i did visit. Adam was more into the shopping there than i was, his eyes fixed on the billabong board shorts and the singha beer wife beaters (vests). We spent too much time trying to get myself a suit made, too bad that we were recommended a place the otherside of the city from where we were staying! What with the 4 fittings, we found ourselves catching the skytrain and negotiating witrh dodgy taxi and tuk tuk drivers far too often! Eventually the suit was made though, and its pretty good, but i'm not sure its worth the hassle, especially as i am a born worrier and kept freaking out that they were gonna make a granny style suit! Oh, and there is the fact that i shall have to carry around for one month - it will probably look like a Primark number by the time i get it home! We did see some sights though, and i took Adz to the Grand Palace, Jim Thompson's Thai House and countless other buddhas that were more of an accidental viewing really, as part of dogy Tuk Tuk driver scams where thet take you round the city for about 20 pence, but they end up taking you to all the places you dont want to go and then to tailors and jewellers so that you can have a 10 minute look, which entitles them to a free tank of fuel! Adam had a particular encounter with a moody Indian taylor, who threw adam out of the shop because he didnt want him 'just looking', he wanted him to sit down immediately and get measured up! We made a trip to the Floating Market wich was definately good to see, but still you cant get away from people hassling you to by things! The pictures are good though. Since i went there last the number of western males with beautiful young Thai prostitutes or not as the case may be has definately grown. The thing is it seems to be young and old western males now, not just the old and fat ones! Whilst we loved the thai food (its always my favourite), we did crave something different from time to time, and we gave in once ....... we had a McDonalds, and for that we are truly ashamed of ourselves! It tasted good though, but we wont be making a habit of it! Adam did get blown away by the chilli on occasion, and suprisingly enough so did i.. but it was my fault i asked for something to be spicy.. in thailand of all places! We made the most of the 'Maaasaaage' on offer and had a great thai massage, and i treated myself and had a facial and eyelash tinting! Not sure i believe the facial hype though, my skin looked perky for all of about 5 minutes! We were quite glad to leave Bangkok though, and if i go back to Thailand, i will make sure it is to the islands down south, I will avoid Bangkok like the plague - i have seen enough! I know adam will agree.....
