Today has been our favourite day in Thailand.
We got picked up at 7am by a private mini bus, driver & tour guide! The mini bus had disco lights inside, a tv & leather reclining seats. The tour was so nice because we were the only ones on it and the driver was really happy and friendly which made our day better.
After 1 hour drive we arrived at the floating markets, we had to use the toilets when we got there which was an experience. They look like a toilet seat but screwed to the floor & you have to bop over it, I came out of the toilet laughing and the driver was like ' you go toilet thai style'
The driver walked us to a river and we got in a long boat just for the two of us. The lady in the boat paddles up and down the river & as you go past the stalls the Thai people get a hook and pull you near there stall. (I felt like hook a duck) It is amazing how there display of souvenirs are on little boats and nothing falls in the water. People even cook barbeque food on the boats & other meat snacks. I brought a few bits and managed to get the prices down, I was happy with what I paid for stuff but it was nowhere near as cheap as what people make out.
We got lost getting back to the bus as it is like a maze and it was funny as a lady put a tshirt up against Adam & kept saying 'how much you give me' we were like no we don't want it & she was proper pushing him back lol.
When we were back on the bus the driver will move on when we are ready, the whole trip was depending on how long we wanted in each bit. He even brought us snacks, cookies & water, also he had ice cold face clothes for us to cool down with.
After another hour we arrived at Kwai river, the tour guide told us some history about the bridge. Although there were a few times when we didn't understand so we kept nodding & smiling. We walked over the bridge which was a bit scary as there wasn't really any safety bits you could hold on to. The views were nice from the middle & our guide got plenty of photos of us. We then had dinner on a floating river, the tour guide got us to try some Thai food. Some of it was quite spicy but we enjoyed the Thai fruit and it was good that he showed us as we would never have showed us.
Another hour in the bus & we got to elephant camp, (me & Adam are like kids when we are in a car and always fall asleep so every time we went somewhere we fell asleep instantly) The elephant camp was really amazing there were elephants everywhere.
The tour guides used our cameras to get photos of us which was great, I was scared again when we were getting on the Elephant as it was high. I soon relaxed and enjoyed the 20 minute ride round the jungle.
The man then took the harness off the elephants and we rode them bare back into the lake to bath them. I was so hot by this point I was dying to get in the water, it was very refreshing. The elephants were really well tamed the trainers didn't even have to tell them off. They were just getting them to do different things with us which was fun. I wasn't brave enough to stand on the head but Adam did it he was great; the Thai men liked him because he was daring!
After 3 hours on the bus we got back to the hotel, on the way back we watched our elephant videos on the tv & then we watched the film 'Ted.'
Such a perfect day & was worth every penny, we are so glad we have done it & it was better than we imagined.
