Yesterday I arrived at the Kamana hotel in downtown Lima to begin my trip. I was met by the guy who I was to share a room with, Peter, an older Australian guy. I spent the afternoon pretty much napping while waiting for everyone to arrive.
In the evening we had a briefing of what we would be doing on the trip and after a couple of beers we all headed out for dinner. For some reason our hotel was more than happy to serve us alcohol, even though a dry ban is in place. So after dinner we all returned and spent the rest of the night drinking and getting to know each other. There are a lot of ozzies on the trip, and only 5 Brits so it's a bit of a mix and I am the youngest on the trip by a few years, although a lot of the others still like to have a laugh so it sounds like it will be a good trip, although I imagine it to be a little like coach trip!!!
This morning we leave for Pisco, which is around 4 hours by local bus. When we arrive we have a tour of the town before watching the sunset from the rooftop terrace of the hotel. I have a feeling tonight will be another messy night!
Also, today is the day of the election so could be potential problems with road blackings as protests. The locals love to road block, those pesky peruvians!
