Despite the late night we were hassled into getting up early to say goodbye to everyone that would be leaving at 8.30am! Christina fancied a bit of luxury and spent the night at the really nice hotel we went to on our first night in town. Johannes and Wing had also moved to the hotel we went to last night. The other Cristina left yesterday and crossed to Zambia where she did a micro light flight over the Falls before making her own way to Zanzibar. She will be travelling the whole way by train and will be long gone before we get there so we won't see her again.
We had breakfast with the rest of the group. Solveig and Johannes will be transporting back to South Africa, Solveig to Kruger National Park where she will be joining a new group, and Johannes to Johannesburg. Siziba will drive them in Sonny with Thekla on board. The 2 of them are transiting all the way back to Cape Town in 3 days! Ouch!
The rest will all be leaving at their own time heading in different directions. Those staying with us include Lea, Kay, Hisako and German Marcus. Last night we also met Roen, (pronounced Roon but you roll the R - we called him Rooney!) who is an 18 year old student from Holland and will be joining the trip as far as Nairobi.
It was actually quite sad saying goodbye to everyone else! Not to mention the fact we would be sat around for another day in a town where there is nothing to do that is either incredibly expensive or that we haven't already done. In my opinion Nomad should cut the tour a day short and have us leaving this morning rather than tomorrow morning. We've already had 2 full days here which is more than enough for anyone wanting to bungy or go white water rafting. It would also make the overall package price slightly cheaper!
It was a boring day in all and we spent most of it lounging around the guesthouse bar writing blog and sharing anecdotes of the earlier trip with Roen. At some point we also met Stefan who is to be our new German translator now that Thekla has left but he was only flying through and seemed quite shy so didn't stop to chat. Hopefully he'll be friendlier tomorrow!
The whole day went very slowly!
