Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta and tonight's destination is a campsite just outside the town. After just a couple of hours driving Siziba pulled off the road and down what looked like just a small gravel track. It's unusual for our bush toilet stops to take us so far off the actual road but some of us were so desperate we just ran into the bushes without stopping to look at where we actually were. Yet another early start this morning and we are crossing the border into Botswana! I've been really looking forward to this particular country, especially the Okavango Delta and Chobe River! First up though we have to drive into the centre of Windhoek for more supplies and to meet our new family member! Obviously we said goodbye to Anke last night but replacing her is Marcus, another one. This one is much younger although he probably still has about 10 years ...

Today our destination is Windhoek, Namibia's capital city. Total distance is some 550km which translated into travel time in the truck means 8-9 hours on the road! Early start it is then! First of all we had a short drive to the edge of Etosha and just 5 minutes outside the campsite we had a surprise! Two lions, a male and a female were right there on the side of the road. This morning Siziba gave us a choice…we could either spend the day driving back slowly the way we came yesterday covering some different side roads and hopefully seeing some lions along the way or we could head north. The reason we had this choice was because our campsite for the night is the one we visited for lunch yesterday, some 100+ kilometres away. If we head north it means we only get the morning to rush around a new area of the park we haven't seen ...

A short drive this morning of just 5 hours (with a break in a small town for delicious pastries at a local bakery whilst Vincent once again picked up fresh supplies) and we arrive in Etosha National Park. This place is well documented on various TV channels just like the Serengeti and Chobe so is pretty famous as a tourist attraction. It is also one of the only parks where the overland companies can drive their own trucks and carry out their own guided tours ...
