Well as we boarded the train for Hong Kong we were made well aware we were leaving the country (which is odd as obviously Hong Kong is part of China) and we were given a ticket to say our chinese visa has expired because we were leaving the country, so this messed up our plans a little as to get the train to Hanoi or Saigon (Vietnam) we have to re-enter China! So rather than pay for another visa we decided to change our route, we are trying to change our flights so we can fly from hong kong to Vietnam and then not fly into Singapore. This way we can leave from Thailand and travel by train into Malaysia and go to Kulalupar, which we are really looking forward too, then we can go overland to Singapore and still leave as planned on the 6th (so keep your fingers crossed that we can change our flight). Blimey 13days in and we already changing the flights!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway the train from Shanghai to Hong KOng was great, although writing this know i still feel like im moving! When it was time to sleep on the train me and adam decided to stay up and read for a bit, in doing so we got to see more of the Chinese than we had ever planned or expected to see! Any children under the age of 16 stop reading now! lol! The lady opposite me on the middle bunk had taken off her trousers and knickers and had her quilt on her, in ther movement of her sleep she rolled over and in doing so moved the quilt so me and adam had a very clear view of her bum (and no dad she wasn't fit and 25yrs old, she was bout 60 and more than a size 12), anyway to continue, she then decided to lie on her back and she was obviously hot so she removed her quilt altogether, you can only guess what i saw then, adam was lucky enough not to see that part! I think we have been scarred for life, it was very hard to look at her without laughing the next morning!
Moving on from the disturbing tail (children can now read on), we arrived in Hong Kong with signal on our phones and excited to get started on seeing the sites! However it isn't quite what we expected, the weather is hotter than you can ever imagine and very muggy so its very much sticky heat than nice heat, but its ok. We arrived at our hostel and it feels more like a back street shed than a hostel. We were upgraded from a dorm room to a double room, thinking this was great we accepted straight away. When arriving at the room which is in a different building altogether, we find it smell the bed is a thin piece of wood and is only wide enough for a bed a chair and a table (thats it!) we immediatley checked for bed bugs as we have already heard about bed bugs in hostels on the road we are staying on, we found none i am pleased to say! Luckily we have only paid for 2 nights here so we are looking for different accomodation as we speak! Also in the size of a normal down stairs toilet is a toilet a sink and a shower, so that will be fun in the morning! Also just to disappoint everyone when we got here and ropped our bags off we headed stright for maccies!!!!!!!!!! and we had the nicest latte and cold chocolate we have ever tasted as within maccies there was a Mc Cafe too! How cool! Anyway we are off to check that our room hasn't been broken into and to find another hostel! Hope we are keeping you all well enteratined!
We love and miss you all (Samantha and Sylvie we hope we aren't missing out on Alistair and William growing up too quickly, big hugs and kisses to all the kids!)
