Hey everyone!
After the massive success of New Years Eve we had planned a trip to the Blue Mountains for 3 nights to do some trekking. However the weather forecast for the time we were there was pretty miserable but we just had to make the most of it. We got there and the hostel was the worst we had stopped in. We waited for ages to be checked in and when we finally got to the desk she answered the phone to someone and was on for ages i felt like banging her head off the desk. Then our room was foisty and we had hairs on our 'clean' sheets, the kitchen was scruffy and the place was run by bloody hill billy's.
The next day was really foggy, you couldn't see 5 feet in front of you so we decided to knock the trekking on the head that day and we just spent the day on the internet sorting our itinerary out for the next couple of weeks we were going to head to Byron bay after the blue mountains but obviously everybody had that idea because all the accommodation is was fully booked so we had to make some decision whether to stay in Sydney for a couple more nights before places came available or head to a town on route to Byron so we opted for the latter, and spend a couple of nights in a place called Coffs harbour.
The following day the weather was nice enough to head out for some trekking. We packed up some pasta salad and Louise's favourite carrot sticks with French onion dip. I left my trainers at a hostel in Vietnam so i had to purchase some more in Sydney. It was weird wearing trainers after months and months of flip flops. We walked to the view point at the three sisters which overlooked the blue Mountains and even though it was cloudy and it was still amazing to see the rolling hills and mountains. This lookout point was obviously crowded by the Japanese and Chinese tourists so we opted for a more secluded walking route. We walked all along the cliffs for 30 minutes in the search of this water fall through mud and puddles and when we got there it was the most piddley little waterfall we've seen haha it was like someone was having a tinkle over the edge, that was the extent of it.
We then headed in the opposite direction on a walk that would take just under 2 hours and walked down under the three sisters down about a million steps where we stopped and tucked into our pasta salad and carrot sticks while overlooking the blue mountains. At this point we were all alone and hadn't seen anyone for about 30 minutes so we were in the forest by this time walking through the bush lands and it was getting on. I started feeling a little nervous but i didn't let it show and we just hurried through. We finally got to the leura falls and this time they didn't disappoint!!! 2 hours later we were at the base of the blue mountains ready to start the ascent back to the top near civilisation. We were both shattered but we had to climb these steep steps back to the top we got half way and had a rest to finish off the pasta salad. Louise was tucking in until i heard a massive scream, AHHHHHHHHHHHH ADAM WHAT IS IT GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!!! I thought it was just a fly or bug on her ankle so i just gave it a waff off but it didn't budge then it occurred to me that it was a LEECH!!!!! Uh oh i knew this was about to get ugly!
In the mean time louise was hysterical and she shouted the words that i will never forget..............ADAM YOUR MY BOYFRIEND, GET IT OFF GET IT OFF NOWWWW!!!!!!!!! PLEASE !!!!!!! At this point i shot the pasta salad to one side and manned up, knowing that this was my time to shine! So i grabbed the little critter by the tail and pulled at it but the little thing was to slippery so i used the only tool that i had.............. MY FORK from the pasta!! So i stabbed at it a couple times with my fork but Louise was practically doing somersaults at this point so it was difficult, i scrapped that idea because i wasn't far off from putting a folk through her leg. haha I opted for a scraping technique and after a couple of go's......BINGO it was off! And i was a hero (again) and successfully lived up to the leech killing boyfriend louise had dreamed of! Haha
They say your meant to burn them off but it was lucky for louise that i didn't have a lighter because im pretty sure i would of set her alight with all her wriggling haha After the ordeal we headed back to civilisation and as a treat for our ordeal we treat ourselves to a domino pizza!! We had been trekking from 12 to 6pm so we were absolutely shattered. The next day we had planned to leave early but the sun had come out so we walked back down to the mountains for a better view but it was just as bad or maybe even worse so we just turned around and headed back and got the train a back to Sydney.
However our bus to Coffs harbour wasn't until the next day so our trusty friends mark and Nicola put us up again for another night which was good because there friends had cooked a lovely beef stew with red wine and I hammered marc on FIFA and we played guitar hero. The next day in Sydney we met up with peter and Ashley because our bus didn't leave until 11 o'clock at night. They had just done the Sydney harbour bridge walk and Peter proposed to Ashleigh on top of the bridge!!! so we all had celebratory drinks!! Haha

Steph Good to know romance isn't dead...no I'm not talking about Peter and Ashleigh. I was thinking about Bob being such a Superhero, fighting Leeches off for Louise Lane. Well done Bob. Carry on folks...........up the gold coast........ Lots of Love from us all xxxx
Peter and Ashleigh We knew you were a hero Adam and so practical using a fork. Bless louise though, if that was Ash I think the world would have probably ended! Well Ash has a ring now and she doesnt look at me at all anymore just her left hand. Love lots from Mr and Mrs to be xxx
mam and dad(m) Wow- those blood sucking leeches are really vicious little parasites. Those cries of help would have haunted you for the rest of your life had you not have rissen to the task and single handedly removed the venomous monster which undoubtedly saved Louises life. You deserved every piece of the dominoes pizza to replenish the energy which you expended in fighting it off. great news about Pete and Ash- pass on our congratulations to them if you see them again. great blog as usual can't wait for the next one, enjoy your travels and be careful. Love mam and dad xxx
